1/10/14 Friday
Friday started as Fridays do. I had no plans for the day, other than playing on the pute. When I got up, I read a little bit, then got up and puttered around the house a bit before getting on the pute, then I just played on the pute most all day. When it came to lunch, I had sausage biscuits - the packages with 2 in them that you microwave - that I took the biscuits from and had double meat. By that, I mean that I zapped 2 packages (4 sandwiches) and took the meat from the 1 package and put into the other, and threw those biscuits away. I know that I don't need all those carbs! I was also going out to meet a friend at a Mexican restaurant for supper, so there would be a bit extra at suppertime, and I can't wait!
I thought a couple of times about getting up and either riding the damn exercise bike or doing some Wii training, but never quite talked myself into doing it. Am I lazy or what? I'm going with lazy. Ha!
At 4, I get a venison roast, with the accompanying veggies, into the oven, so that the fellas would have their supper done about 6:30. I thought that would be a pleasant surprise for them - I hadn't told Ron that I was going to do that, usually it's kinda "whatever we find is what we have for supper."
Ron got home a little after 5 with Corgan, which was good for a Friday. Ron mentioned how "GOOD" the house smelled as soon as he walked in, and that made me happy! Corgan also brought his new Dirty Jobs DVDs with him, to watch tonight. I'm glad, because I'm very tired of the "Most Stupid" shows he usually watches.
Since I was meeting my friend Jody at 7, at 5:45, I got off of the pute and went to get ready to leave. I hit the road at quarter after 6, since it's a bit of a drive to Mt. Orab, and I didn't want to be late - not that that would have been a surprise. I have been known to be late before, you know.
I get to the restaurant - El Camino Real, across from the Food Court - and I enjoy a margarita and the tortilla chips (but no salsa - I don't like spicy stuff) while waiting for Jody. She got there a few minutes late (she got caught in traffic, coming from work) but I didn't mind, I was reading my book and hadn't really noticed. We ordered our food and just sat there talking and talking and talking. She ordered a second margarita, then couldn't finish it, so I did! I probably really shouldn't have, but I couldn't let it go to waste, now, could I? Besides, I had eaten enough - between my food and the chips - to soak it up!
Trust me, though, the deer were smart to stay out of my way on the way home!
Unfortunately, when I got home, Corgan was watching those damn "Most Stupid" shows and I had to suffer through them when I got back on the pute. Ugh.
I didn't bother to try to put my food onto MFP, or to write a blog. After catching my games up, I went to bed. And, yes, thank you, I slept very well.
1/11/14 Saturday
I woke up today around 10. Ron and Corgan were outside, breaking down the nativity 'stable' - which fell apart, and Corgan then got to demolish. So much for his garage. They moved on to target practice with the BB gun. I just stayed in bed and read. Until noon. It was quite enjoyable. Nothing new, but very comforting. Somehow different, just knowing the fellas were home, too, and that made it more --- special.
I got up, got on the pute, which is where I was when they came in and 'found' me. We all decided on eggs - egg sandwiches for me & Ron, dunk eggs for Corgan - for our lunch. Corgan wanted to cook them, too, and we said "O.K." Ron stood by to supervise, but we let him cook. I showed him which skillet - a cast iron skillet - to use, and I came back in the living room and left them to it. When my egg sandwich was done, he brought it in to me, and I thanked him profusely. He did a very good job! Of course, using the correct skillet makes all the difference, but it takes a feller quite a while to figure that out, right?
Ron and Corgan played on the Wii after lunch, while I played on the pute, and after a bit, I texted Josh to ask him about them picking Corgan up. He talked us into coming down to his house for supper and watching football, so Ron went in to take a nap. Corgan watched more "Most Stupid" and I was glad that it wasn't going to be for long! When it was time - right on the dot! - Corgan went in and woke Ron up, and we got all his stuff, and the stuff we were taking for our 'help' with supper, and hit the road.
We got down to Josh's, and I got settled in to watch football. Even though it may seem like "just another football game" to most people, there is something - there is some intense element to playoff games that aren't there in other football games. And, today, the game is in Seattle and it's raining and windy and oh, how fun to watch! I expected this game to be high-scoring, but I did NOT factor in the weather...may be a mistake!
Chelle made supper during the game, and I did my share, making those cabbage steaks that Ron likes so much. You should have seen their eyes when they saw "how much" of the olive oil/garlic/onion powder mixture I made to brush on the cabbage! But, boy, did they eat the hell out of it! Too funny!
The game ended the way I expected it to end, though I wish it had ended the other way. But, I wish the game last week (at least one of them!) had ended differently, too!
The second game started, and it was raining there, too! It wasn't quite as windy as the first game was, though, so it wasn't as fun to watch. We left at halftime - which only lasts 12 minutes, and it takes 25 (at least) to drive home - so, I told Josh to send me updates until I get home! C'mon, it the playoffs! He did, and I let him know when I got home, and then HE turned the game off and went to bed. Then, the game exploded and went totally to hell. Or - to put it another way - went totally the home team's way, which was NOT a surprise, not with this team. So, ladies and gents, it's all Josh's fault.
I chose not to put my food into MFP again today - I just didn't feel like putting/looking new foods up on there. So I conveniently 'forgot.'
I did, however, get my blog caught up. Yay, me!
