Ugh. Not-so-Happy Homemaker today.

Monday, January 13, 2014

Today, I woke just before 10, but stayed in bed and read - finished another book! - until almost noon.  Put that book in my 'give-to-my-sister' pile, and will start a new one tonight.  WhooHoo!

After I got up, I got on the pute, got my games caught up, but didn't stay on real long.  I got me a can of chicken salad and munched on that, and some cherry tomatoes while on the pute for my lunch.  And, while I was on, my two sisters were both on, and we had a nice chat going on.  It's very cool when that happens because it sure doesn't get to happen often, not unless something is going on, and that's not always a good thing.  But today's chat was a good one, but then Jean had to get Corgan from school, Ruth had to get off the library pute, and I had to run uptown, so we all left our respective putes at around the same time.
While I was uptown, I stopped at Family Dollar to buy batteries for my glucometer, and - I am assuming - some teenager stole my Bengals helmet dude from my antenna!  I say that, because as far as I can tell, it was there yesterday when Ron and I went to church, and it was there when I left the house to go uptown.  At least, neither Ron nor I noticed that the car looked any different, and somehow you always notice when it looks different, even if it takes you a few minutes to figure out why it looks different.  I sure noticed when I walked OUT of Family Dollar!
When I got home, I thought I'd just go get the back-up one that I have, and Ron can put it on when he gets home.  But - I couldn't find it.  Boo!    I probably put it up somewhere, so I know just exactly where it would be later.  Ha!  You know how that is, I'm sure.

Then, I decided that today will be the day I got all the mail that has accumulated over the last three months (since early November) and I've done absolutely nothing with, caught up.  I know, not very smart of me, but I admit  - I let it slide.  Now it's crazy, and I've GOT to get it caught up.  No one else around here to do it but me.  Ron doesn't count - he won't touch the bills, the checkbook, anything like that - and it's all up to me.  So, I gather all the paraphernalia - the ledger, the checkbook, the bills & mail, the blank calendar, all of that - and clean off one end of the kitchen table and get started.
Ron gets home about an hour later, and I am deep in this project.  He asks 'does he want to see this?' (because I try to make him look at the ledger every few months, just so he has some idea of our finances) and I told him NO very quickly.  So, he goes off and does his Wii and rides the damn exercise bike before turning on the TV and watching dead guys - without me.  Another hour goes by, and he wanders out into the kitchen to make his supper.  He makes himself some of those cabbage steaks.  He also threw some broccoli onto the pan & pours some of the olive oil mix onto them, just to try it. (He later said it was 'ok.')  He kept telling me that I needed to eat, too, and that I better make me some kind of supper.  I finally told him that I didn't eat lunch until after 2, so I would be okay until I was done, and then I'd get something.
I FINALLY get done a little after 8, and I made myself my 'poor man's shit on a shingle' for my supper, which I enjoyed while sitting in front of the pute, catching my games up once again.  Man, was I glad I was done with that project.  I will not let the mail slide like that again - not for a good long time!  Hopefully, never.

When I put "all" my food into MFP, I was over 750 calories short for the day!  Knowing that THAT meant a sure sugar low overnight, I went ahead and made a bag of microwave popcorn, even though it was 11 at night, and had a glass of milk with it.  Nothing in the world like a swallow of milk to wash down a mouthful of popcorn!  Yum!  That didn't bump the calorie count up a whole lot, but better than 750 short!  And, yes, MFP hollered at me.

My friend, who went to the hospital and was in ICU and all that?  She went home today!  Thank you all so much for your help with good thoughts, wishes, and prayers.  Keep it up for her, as she still has a long road ahead of her, if you would please.  We appreciate it.
I am going to hit the hay early tonight - I have to leave the house at 8:30 in the morning!  I don't dare be late for my job interview in the morning - this is my second chance at this one!
