I got stuff done today!

Thursday, January 9, 2014

I started the day by waking up, reading a bit, then getting up and getting my shower.  I checked my banking on the pute while 'drying off' and planning out my day.  I had a lot to do today - but I had all day to do it, so there was no rush.  I knew pretty much all I was going to do, and so had been getting things together last night, so there was not much to do this morning, but it took me longer to get out the door than I expected.

I finally got on the road a little after 11.  I didn't have an appointment for my first job interview.  I was just supposed to go into their office to "finish the application process" whenever I could.  Their office - in Norwood - was not that really that hard to find, thank God, and I got there just past noon.  The interviewer, of course, was gone to lunch.  She tried to give me an appointment at 1:30, but I told her that I had another appointment at 2:30 and I couldn't wait that long.  She said she'd see what she could do.  Well.  I had to go out and move my car as she got the paperwork all together for me - of course, I had parked in the wrong place, and of course I had to open my mouth and ask about where I had parked.  Anyway, after I got the paperwork done, I was told that he would see me "in a few minutes" and to please wait.  There was another appointment at 1:00 (which was why she tried to give me 1:30), and as I filled out my paperwork, this person came in.  Luckily, they did call me back before her.  Whew...
The interview went as interviews do, so I don't know.  I guess I'll find out eventually.
When I left there, I contacted my friend Kathy, whom I was supposed to meet for lunch.  I only had about 45 minutes now, and I have no idea where I am - this is HER side of town!  I was driving down Ridge Road, and she asked where I was.  I was naming things I could see - SteaknShake, Circuit City, PetSmart - and we decided on SteaknShake for our lunch.  I whipped into the little road I was beside and pulled into their parking lot without any trouble.  Whew again.
I just had the double cheeseburger (with tomato and onion only), fries, a strawberry shake, and a tea.
After our quick lunch - oh, how I wish it could have been a nice leisurely lunch.  I don't get to see her noway near often enough! - I got back on the road and made it to my 2:30 appointment on Kellogg Ave.  At least, I thought I did.  When I got into the interview room, they said, very snobbishly "We start promptly at 2:30, and it's past that."  By about 30 seconds!  Geez Louise.  Well.
I left and went on with the errands that I was going to do when I was done with the interview.  I was a little pissed, but I figured it was their loss.  Hopefully, I will get a chance (everything is done online) to explain about traffic and that I can reschedule, but, if not, it's no skin off my teeth.  They may deem me super unreliable for being 30 seconds late, but I consider myself super-efficient for scheduling two appointments on different sides of town on the same day and thus saving time (for travel) and money (for gasoline).  Plus, not that they will ever know, but I worked in lunch with a friend, AND I'm going to do some errands AND visit two more friends before going home!  So there.  I pushed them out of my mind.

I went to Jungle Jim's, where I bought the Pop Cakes that are the only snacks we have in the house besides the nut bars.  Ron really likes the Maui Onion ones, where Corgan and I really like the Blueberry Cinnamon ones.  Ron is taking 4 with him every day to keep from buying junk.  Have I told you that the man is losing weight like crazy?
I then stopped at my friend Teresa's.  I had brought the stuff for her niece Traci, who just got married the Saturday after Christmas, that I hadn't been able to take over on Tuesday because of the cold.  We had a nice little visit, but then I hit the road again.  My plans were still to stop at WalMart and then my friend Bert's.
I call Bert, and her mom tells me that she isn't home yet.  Try Kroger (in Amelia), she was stopping there.  Well, okay.  I am coming up to Amelia, and I can do that.  I sure hope I can find her - Kroger is a pretty big store!  Luckily, I do find her car, and I find a parking spot 2 rows over so that I can watch to see if she comes out of the store.  After a few minutes, she had not, so I decide to go in and see if I can see her, hopefully checking out.  I walk in the door - and there she is!  How lucky is that?  We talk for a couple of minutes, and she tells me she is ready to check out, so I go back out to my car to wait for her.  When she comes out, I help her load her groceries and then I give her the stuff I had for her, and we go our separate ways.  Another 'errand' done.  Whew.
I really didn't want to stop at WalMart now.  I was ready to go home.  I call Ron to see if he is just about done with his day, or what, so I can make a decision on what to do next.  He is just about ready to leave the dump, but still has to drive to Bethel and go to the bank.  We decide to go to Frisch's for supper, instead of waiting for us both to get home, then wait for something to cook, blah blah blah.  So....I guess I'm stopping at WalMart.  It'll take him about an hour to get there, so why not?
I do stop at WalMart and get my WalMart walk in - and get the few things we need for this week (for the rest of this month, really) as well as starting to get things for our Super Bowl party.
As I'm driving on toward Bethel, I get a text from Ron that he's "here."  Darn!  He beat me!
I get there just a few minutes later, and we enjoy our supper together.  I have a real dinner - the open-face turkey dinner.  I don't eat all the bread, though.  Only one whole slice of bread, and no crusts.  Man, was it good!  I know it was a lot of carbs, but I wanted something different for a change.
When we left Frisch's to come home, the snow was starting to fly.  Well, okay, flurries were forecasted.  But it got up into the 40s today, and is supposed to again tomorrow.  Weird.  This snow was really flying around, though.  It didn't really look like flurries.  It looked like snow.

After we'd been home about half an hour, my friend Bert called me to tell me "nobody likes you" as she does every time it snows - it's a running joke between us - and I look out the front door and everything is totally covered with snow!!  My car, the sidewalk, the yard and the driveway - everything!!  My, my!!  I couldn't believe it.  I knew the snow looked like snow, not like flurries.
Being a Thursday, Ron and I are busy watching game shows on TV, and I am on the pute.  Yee-haw.  Fun times in the O'Toole house again.  He goes to bed at 10, as usual, and I just keep on playing on the pute.

When I put my food into MFP, I was kinda dreading it.  I was sure I was going to be WAY over on calories, carbs, just about every category possible, but I wasn't!  I was very pleasantly surprised by my totals.  I was even very close to my 300 calories short for the day!  Even with having a strawberry shake!  Man, am I glad to know that.  I was so worried about it (I probably shouldn't be, but I let myself) but if I keep watching the overall everything, it will be O-KAY.  Maybe I won't lose weight every week, but I will lose in the long run.  Of course, I do have to get off my lazy ass and fit the evil E word in there more...ugh.

My friend in the hospital - the one who had the heart attack and WAS in ICU?  She was moved to a regular room today!  From on life support to a regular room in 24 hours!  Thank you so very much for your support.
