Pounding the pavement today

Friday, January 17, 2014

Today I woke up around quarter til 10.  I stayed in bed and read a little bit, then got up and took a shower, then played on the pute until after lunch.  I was planning on going uptown after lunch, and hitting the businesses uptown for donations for the Quarter Auction and wanted to wait until after the so-called lunch rush.  I made myself an egg sandwich (3 eggs, 2 slices of bread) for my lunch, so I had sustenance for my trek.

When I got uptown about 1:45, I parked and started walking the three main blocks of town.  I did get some donations, and I left the request letters at other businesses, and made the circle of the block(s).  I got back to the car, and drove out to Gold Star, and went in there, then came back to town, stopping at each business I came to that I thought would possibly give me a donation.  THAT was a lot of getting in and out of the car, and a lot stopping and going in and out of next-door-to-each-other parking lots.  I had a couple of personal errands to do while I was uptown, also, and I fit those in inbetween all those stops, too.  Finally, close to 4, I had had enough, and just wanted to get home!  My feet were cold.  I had lost one of my pens.  MY BLUE PENS.  So, I skipped the last stop on my list and just came on home.  I can always go back uptown sometime next week, and hit the places I didn't go today!  There are a lot more little places uptown than people realize!  I will need some more of the letters from the church, anyway, I think.

I came home, and was on the pute - of course - when Ron texted, saying that he and Corgan were on their way home.  They got home, and Corgan wanted to go sledding right away.  Crazy boy!  Ron, crazy man, said he'd take him out for a few minutes.  I wanted them to wait until morning, but - being fellas - they wouldn't listen to me.  It really was only a few minutes that they were outside.  When they came in, I made Corgan a mug of hot chocolate (and I had one, too!) and Ron went to change out of his wet work clothes and got out of those heavy wet work boots.  I don't see how he stands those.  I'd have to take my feet out of those before I even came home!  I think I'd have something in the car/truck to change in to and give my feet a break right away.

Around 6 or so, the fellas wanted some supper, so we all went scavenging.  I wasn't really hungry yet, but I helped them look.  Corgan didn't have to look very far; he knew what he wanted.  Ramen noodles.  He loves those!  I'm glad I bought some different flavors for him during last week - he had plenty to choose from.  Ron finally settled on one of his frozen Chinese dinners.  About an hour later, I made me a couple of hamburger patties, which we had bought and frozen separately for just this reason.  I put cheese between them, and ate them (with a fork) along with some pretzels.  And that was my supper.

I stayed on the pute all night while Corgan watched TV - the 'Most Stupid' shows he likes so much.  Tonight they were all about inventions instead of stupid people or crashes or things like that, so they weren't so bad, but the 'celebrities' on there were as bad as ever.

When I put my food into MFP, I was over 500 calories short for the day, so it hollered at me, but I didn't put in my mug of hot chocolate, and other little bits and pieces, so I'm sure it was closer to the 300 where I usually am.

I got into a Super Bowl pool today.  My team is Denver.  Whaddaya think?  I think I like my chances.  But, I am me, so I'm not holding my breath.  LOL
