Today was quite a normal Sunday. I am quite happy with those.
We got up - Ron early, me between 9 and 9:30, got our showers, got dressed, and went to church. There was a bit of excitement in church, as an older woman, who walks with a cane, fell down as she came up for communion. She said over and over again that she was fine. I offered for me and/or Ron to drive her home, but she declined. She seemed more confused over why she had fallen - she said she hadn't ever fallen before - than the fact that she had fallen. I am planning to call her tomorrow, just to check up on her.
After church, we went up to Georgetown for breakfast, as we have been doing. And, yes, we each had the big breakfast that we both like. We also saw some friends in the restaurant and spent a few minutes talking to them after we had ordered our food, until their food arrived at their table. <yes, they were there first.>
We got home, as usual, about 10 minutes after kickoff and then it was an afternoon of football. Not just football, remember, but playoff football!
And so the afternoon went on. I had a nut bar sometime during the afternoon. And then, around 6:30, we decided to look for some supper. I wasn't feeling super great - I probably was starting a sugar low - and tried to check my blood, but my machine wouldn't work. First, my machine told me it was out of strips, so I changed that, but it still wouldn't work, and I tried changing batteries but none of the AAA batteries we had were good enough. I can only assume that they MUST be alkaline to work in this machine. Since I wasn't feeling that great anyway, I lost my temper and was slamming my machine and the batteries around and all that - throwing a little baby fit - and Ron got exasperated with me. He finally made me a bowl/can of chicken noodle soup and put in front of me. What a man! I fiddled with the stupid machine a bit more before eating it, but I should have eaten it right away, because when I did eat it, I felt so much better. So, it must have been what I had thought - I just couldn't check! Damn machines. Why can't we just believe our bodies?
After I ate, while still watching football, I got on the pute. Just to get my games caught up, you know. I can do two (or more) things at once, and the game wasn't all that thrilling. I thought it would be a run-up-and-down-the-field game, and it wasn't. It was rather boring, if you must know. But - football is football. And playoffs are playoffs - you never know what will happen! These teams are in the playoffs for a reason.
After an hour or two, I thought I'd best eat more than just that soup, or I'd never make it through the night. I had to come up with something else to eat. I thought and thought and finally came up to with - popcorn!
So, I made a bag of microwave popcorn and didn't burn it - much. Now, I know to cook it 10 or 15 seconds less than what the bag says. God, I am lame.
When I put my food into MFP, I was still over 150 calories short for the day! I was very much surprised at that. Soup, while not much food, is higher in calories than most people expect, and so is popcorn (especially if you hog the whole bag yourself). But, I was under and I'll take it!
Only two more weeks of football this year. The championship week, then the Super Bowl itself. BooHoo!
Whatever will I do? I'm sure my friends will be glad to get me (us) back! At least, I hope they will be...
