A busy, busy Thursday

Thursday, December 12, 2013

Today, I DIDN'T wake up at 8:30 in the morning!  YAY!!  I did wake up around 7 to go pee, and thought to myself then "ugh - hope I don't get up in an hour or so"  but then, next time I woke up, it was after 10, so I was very pleased with that.  I still don't understand all that, but I am not going to fret over it.  I finished the book I was reading - hey, I can't let Ruth run out of books, now, can I? - and got up right before 11.
I decided that I should go to WalMart today and get what little bit of grocery shopping I need to do done before the weekend, so if we do go Christmas shopping (you just don't realize what it's like, trying to get Ron to go Christmas shopping...) this weekend, then we won't get the groceries and the Christmas stuff all confused.  That kind of stuff is so very easy to do, and our money is scary enough right now.  Ron gets confused easy enough, too!

I went to the Post Office here in Bethel to get more Christmas stamps.  They are out of all except the dumb old ornaments.  You know, the ones they've had for the last ten years or so.  I just can't believe it!  They complain about not having enough money blah blah blah but they can't have what people want???  Yeah, okay?  Do they know what happens to businesses that don't keep their buying public happy?  Yeah, they fold.  Sheesh.  So, now I have to go to the Post Office in Amelia.  Okay, I can deal with that.  It will give me a good excuse to go to Walgreen's, too.  I can always look around there and maybe find a thing or two to buy.
I went to Walgreen's first - it was the farthest away - and then went to the Amelia Post Office.  I wanted the Mother & Child and the Gingerbread House stamps.  Well, they are out of the Mother & Child ones.  Un - BE - lievable!!  "Oh, they are the most popular one."  Hmmmm, well, that should tell you something!  Duh.  I got the Gingerbread Houses and left, but was not happy.  I wonder if I should write a bitch letter??  LOL
Then I went back to WalMart, although I did stop at Bob Evans and had my lunch first.  I do know better than to go shopping without eating first.  I had the Sunshine Skillet and banana nut bread.
I got my shopping done, making sure I got a full 'WalMart Walk' in and then some.  I probably walked that store over twice, if not more.  I was feeling pretty good, and the only thing I forgot, which was not on my list, was Colby Jack cheese.  Yep, I felt good.
Back home, got the car unloaded and stuff put away, and onto the pute for a nice afternoon.
Ron got home a little after 5.  Much better than the before 4 that's been happening all week.  I am not looking forward to next week's paycheck, let me tell you.  Ugh.  Ah, well, his work always slows down a bit in the wintertime, but, still, not yet, please - 2 more weeks!

He'd been home about half an hour and I suddenly - and I mean suddenly - had a sugar low.  I did NOT have any of the symptoms that I usually do, I did not know it, and it was very, very weird.  I don't know what even made me think of checking my sugar, but I am glad something did.  It was 42.  FORTY-TWO.  That is not good.  No way, no how.  I got my handy-dandy jar of jelly beans and ate 25 of 'em.  I ate the first 10 or so very quickly, but then slowed down and ate them one by one.  It was pretty frightening.  I didn't feel 'normal' for about an hour, and I still can't figure this out - why?  I didn't do anything extra strenuous or anything (unfortunately), I didn't eat any strange food.  I just don't know - I guess it just happens sometimes.

When I got to feeling 'normal' again, we made our supper.  We made Ron those cabbage steaks (cabbage slices brushed with olive oil, garlic & onion powders mixed together and baked) and he had one of his frozen Chinese things.  I had a fried egg sandwich, some cherry orange tomatoes, a turnip, and a banana.  I know, we live a wild life!

When I put my food into MFP, those damn jelly beans made me within 100 calories of my day's allotment!  Without them, I would have been 300+ again.  Phooey!  Oh, well.  I guess I have to hit that number every once in a while, don't I?

Everything is getting five stars today!!  Everything happened, and everything was manageable, and all was good!
