Sunday 12-15-13
This was mostly a normal Sunday. It was kinda weird, though, because my Bengals were not on until the night game, and I'm sure not used to that!
After church, we went up to Georgetown to have our breakfast, and we each had the big breakfast that is so yummy. BUT - I forgot to tell them that we wanted toast instead of pancakes, so we got stuck with the pancakes. Yuck, but okay.
Ron and I wrapped the Christmas gifts we had shopped for on Saturday, so I really didn't watch a lot of the early games, either, which - trust me - is not normal, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. We loaded the gifts into Ron's truck, because we are going down to their house tomorrow night for Corgan's Christmas concert and we can get the gifts to 'where they belong' and all will be good. I get to see the end of the early games, and watch the late games.
For supper, I had a bowl/can of chicken noodle soup, with Better Cheddar crackers, a turnip, and a banana. I don't remember what Ron had - probably one of his frozen Chinese things.
Our game, the night game, was a disaster. From the very beginning. There is no other word for it.
I went to get on the pute after halftime - seeing that the game was soooo interesting - and my pute kept telling me that I was FORBIDDEN to get on the Internet!! What??? I tried every little trick I could think of when I have getting-on-the-Internet troubles, and nothing worked, but, then again, I had never been forbidden by my own computer before! Jiminy Christmas! Finally, I just turned the pute off and watched the end of the game (and the news/weather that followed) in solitude and misery.
Monday 12-16-13
I was awakened this morning by my cell phone ringing at 4:30 this morning. It was Ron. His truck is in the ditch on Hoover Road. There is a curve there, but the truck wanted to go straight on the ice, so - it went straight. Right square between a telephone pole and the guide wire. | \ Yep, that's how much room there was. NONE. Luckily, no real damage to either him or the truck, except small dents and dings on the truck and just to his pride. The tires had nothing to grip onto and were just digging deeper holes and getting buried and buried and not going anywhere, so that sucked. I called AAA and went out to help however I could, which wasn't much, but I had to do something. We walked and walked back and forth between that last driveway, where I parked the car, and the truck, I don't know, maybe 5 times altogether. I just couldn't believe that he fit inbetween those two! He was so very lucky, that - if this had to happen, it happened like that - he could even get OUT of the truck!
When the tow truck got there, the driver checked things over, then told us that there was damage and he couldn't pull it out, and we had to call the state patrol. Oh, come on! We were certainly hoping to avoid that. But, no, we've got to call them. Sigh. How the hell long is it gonna take for them to come all the way out here at almost 6am? It's already been way over an hour waiting for the tow truck just to come out from Bethel! We sit and wait and wait and wait some more, and finally, the patrolman shows up. When he gets there, I go ahead and call AAA back, so they can get the tow truck back on its way, cause God only knows how long it will take for him to get out here this time, right? Luckily, before Ron is finished writing his report and receiving his ticket for failure to control (c'mon! give us a break!), the tow truck is back. The truck was pulled out with minimum fuss - I guess the tow truck driver knew what he was doing - and Ron drove it back home.
He called Rumpke to let them know what was going on, and they still wanted him to come in, but he told them that he was too worked up over this and needed to calm down for a while - and they know that he has been having blood pressure troubles - and they finally accepted that he is NOT coming in now, but they were not happy with him. They thought he should just shake it off and come on in! They are idiots.
We went back to bed until the alarm went off, time to get up for me to go to my neurologist appointment.
We got word that Corgan's school was cancelled today because of the snow and ice, and thus, the concert tonight would be, also. Well. What are we gonna do with a truck full of gifts now? Maybe the concert will be re-scheduled. Or there's always next weekend, but we'll have to carry them all back into the house. Ugh.
The neurologist appointment went great, I suppose. He 'promoted' me to only coming in once a year now! I guess that's a good thing, but next month I will be applying for disability, and how is that going to look? Sigh.
After going to the doctor, we had to go to Walgreen's to pick up prescriptions, then we went to Bob Evans, and I texted Josh to see if he could join us. He works not 10 minutes away from there, and it was lunchtime, so - why not? He didn't answer right away, but then got back with us not long after we got there, and he did come down and join us, and that was a nice lunch. We haven't been able to have a meal, just the three of us, for a long, long time. Quite enjoyable. Ron and I each had a Rise n Shine breakfast, his with toast, mine with banana nut bread. Josh had a burger. Ha! Lunch for lunch! What a concept!! When we were done, we transferred the gifts from the truck over to Josh's car, so that, at the very least, this was accomplished today. Yay!
I stopped at the library to use the computer and still had some troubles, but finally managed to get on and check things out and do the basic things that needed done. Ron just sat at one of the tables and played his DS, so I knew he was warm and content, if not pleased with where he was. I did what needed done (my unemployment!), got the emails sent that needed sent, and just did what I could in that small amount of time. It's no way near as comfortable as being at home, but it gets stuff done, so - it works!
We stopped at the bank, so I could make a deposit (of checks) at the ATM. There was a car at the machine, then another one, then me. The la-de-da truck pulled in, backward like it does, and bullied its way up to the machine. It barely let the vehicle in front of me go up and do what it needed to do. Then it was my turn - and I'm the only vehicle there - but the guy is standing there and he tells me that he's got to put money in the machine. I tell him that I am going to make a DEPOSIT. He says, no, he's got to get this money in there. Once again, I said, I'm making a DEPOSIT - of CHECKS. I DON'T need any money right now. But he absolutely refused to let me go to the machine. He said no, I should go into the bank and do my deposit. I said, well, can I get through here then so I can PARK? And I sure hope he could hear the sarcasm in my voice. Cause that truck was sure blocking everything. He gestured to the driver, and he grudgingly backed up a couple inches. I am trying to get the truck through there, and he tells me, "You're gonna hit the curb" just before I do and I shot him the evil eye and said "well, there's NO ROOM on the OTHER side." Man, how I wished the tire would have BOOOOOMed and blown and we would have had to sit there and would have been all THEIR fault, but that was just me being spiteful. I really am very glad the tire didn't blow. That would have been the capper!
We got back home, and Ron started complaining of being cold. He actually said he started being cold in the library, and just couldn't get warm, and this is worrying me, because that man doesn't get cold. I am figuring it's still his nerves, or some kind of reaction, but damn. He went and got a quilt off the bed and covered up there on his recliner and has dozed all evening.
At 7, I made him a Hot Pocket, some (frozen) green beans, and a serving of walnuts for his supper. For mine, I zapped two packets of sausage biscuits. There are two in each packet. I then took the sausage from one and put onto the other and had one double-meat sandwich, for a total of two sandwiches, not four. I also had some mini pretzels, and that was supper.
I got to put today's food into MFP - I decided not to worry about yesterday's - and I ended up just short of my calorie count. Of course, when I put in the Rise n Shine breakfast, it says 'with toast' but I didn't have toast, and that should have knocked some calories off. But I was too lazy to put each part of the breakfast up separately, so I must suffer the consequences. So, I get credit for all those carbs. Ah, well, I'll live.
Today, all in all, was a sucky day. I told someone that was Friday the 13th - we were just a couple of days late!
I think everything will get four stars.
