Boy, do plans change!

Wednesday, December 18, 2013

I woke up this morning - just like yesterday - a little before 7.  And, just like yesterday, I made myself stay in bed and go back to sleep (and today it wasn't the weird dream stuff, thank God) and then I woke back up a little after 10.  That's more like it!  Actually, anything after 8:30 would have been okay, but -- hey!  I have no real plans for the day, just finish getting the laundry put away, run up to the store, just putter around all day and play on the pute, of course, all those kind of things.

When I got up, I didn't even leave the bedroom.  Since all the baskets of clean clothes had been carried into the bedroom yesterday, I just stayed in there and started hanging and folding until all the baskets were empty.  I do not enjoy this job, not at all.  Then again, I don't enjoy many household jobs at all.

When I got out to the living room, the message light was flashing on the phone, and for some reason, I decided to go ahead and check it and clear it off of there.  I usually just let it go and I'll check before I go to bed at night, but the feeling was strong, so I checked it.  There was a message for my sister about a job!   Her cell phone isn't working right now, and she's waiting for her replacement, so we are using my number as a message number for her, so this was pretty important.  I'm glad I listened to my strong feeling about getting the message!  Now to figure out how to get the message to HER.   I come to the dag-blasted conclusion that I must drive up to her and tell her in person.  Winchester.  Ugh.  So much for my 'plans' for the day.  Good thing there weren't any!

I had to go back to the bedroom and get dressed -- so much for hanging out in my housedress all day -- and make my tea and head out.
When I got to Ruth's house, SHE WASN'T HOME!!!  I nearly had another heart attack!  Now what?  She was just at the library yesterday (and I had checked the library's parking lot when I drove by, anyway) and she wouldn't waste the gasoline to go there two days in a row.  Where could she be?  She wasn't at her daughter's either, I had looked there as driving past.  I thought maybe she had run up to the gas station not far from her house.  I drove up there.  Nope.  I called our youngest sister, almost in a panic.  "She's not here!  Any ideas?"  Nope, she had no ideas.  I told her I was going to go get some lunch, and then she suggested some stores that Ruth likes to go to close to where I was going.  Good idea!  So, I swing the car over three lanes to the left turn lane (I was going to turn right) to go that way and check there.  Nope.  We got off the phone, and I went to lunch at Cruiser's Diner.  I finally chose to have a classic club sandwich and french fries as my lunch.  They are the nicest people there!
After eating my lunch and a potty break, I went back to Ruth's.  YAY!  She is there!  Whew!  I am so relieved.  I go in and explain everything to her, and we decide that she will drive her car to my house, then I will take her on down the road to get done what she needs to get done.  (Her driver's window is off the track and needs fixed, and since it's warm today, she can drive it to our house, and hopefully Ron will get home in time to fix it so she can drive it home -- warm and dry -- tonight.)
It didn't really take very long, but it seemed so though it was forever.  But, when we got back from going down the road and Ruth got her stuff all done, Ron did have her car done!  Yay, Ron!  I love that man so much.
When we came in the house, I let Ruth get on my computer while I made supper.  Seeing that she has very limited computer time any more.  Even when she goes to the library, they kick her off the computers after a while, I saw no reason why she shouldn't be able to be on mine for a bit.  It's not like I wouldn't be on my pute later or tomorrow.  I made us all Johnny Marzetti for supper.  I even had 2 slices of bread & butter with mine.  Hey, you gotta clean the bottom of the bowl up with something, right? Then, I let her take what was left home with her because Ron and I sure don't need leftovers around the house (good as they are!), now do we?

She finally left for home around a quarter til nine, and managed to get me a message about an hour later that she made it.  I was glad, and hope she stayed warm.  At least I know the window was up, and she didn't freeze!  I do feel that the day wasn't a total bust.  Things got accomplished!

Unfortunately, when I put my food into MFP, I was over on my calorie count for a change.  Only by just over a hundred, but still over.  Ah, well.  I knew, having had fries for lunch, and then the butter breads, that it wouldn't be good.

Food is getting four stars today -- it was very high-carb, but very yummy.  Exercise didn't really happen, except walking back and forth to and from the car many times.
