12/28/13 Saturday WEDDING
Today is a day we've been waiting for! For a long, long time. Traci has lost a ton of weight over the last three years (she's one of those exercise fanatics now - ugh) and she looks and feels FANTASTIC. She was a big reason why Teresa decided to go for having her surgery earlier this year - a big incentive, I think. Traci is the niece that lived with Teresa all those years (or vice versa) and they really support each other.
And, today, Traci is marrying the man she met through an online dating service (plentyoffish.com, if you are interested) 2 years ago, and we have all watched this relationship develop.
When I got up, I did my weigh-in for my Biggest Loser contest. Not that I really wanted to, but...
I gained THREE pounds. Okay, not a surprise. Much better than I thought - I thought it would be at least five pounds! I hadn't done that much exercise, after all. I suppose I can live with this.
For my lunch today, I had a bowl/can of potato soup, made with milk (of course!) and a bacon sandwich on only one slice of bread - three slices of thick-sliced bacon, broken in half. God, counting all this crap sounds pathetic, doesn't it? Three slices of bacon, one slice of bread...jiminy.
Munched on a little bit of Christmas candy throughout the afternoon, but not much, because I didn't know what would be served at the reception, and I knew there would definitely be cake!
At 3:30, we start taking showers and getting dressed for the wedding. Corgan wanted to take the last shower - I don't know why, he just did, but that's okay, just so he takes one. (by the by, he is allowed to go into a church for weddings and funerals, so it is okay for him to go to Traci's wedding with us) I have to try on 3 dresses before I find one that fits comfortably over my boobs. Dammit. How did I wear those other dresses in the past?
Then, Corgan and I had another to-do as we were getting ready for the wedding. Ron, once again, took up Corgan's side. Oh, I was sooooo pissed. More at Ron for not backing me up because I know Corgan will argue with me. But I just had to let him have his way, cause Grandpa said do it his way. Oooooooohhhhhh.
Besides, now we were running about 5 minutes late - and it's all MY fault because I'M arguing with a 9 year old boy. Sigh.
The wedding, of course, was absolutely beautiful!! It was a full Catholic Mass, with the Rite of Marriage in it. Their theme was snow & snowflakes, the colors silver & blue. Gorgeous. Even their cake topper was a snow couple! It was adorable! Each place setting had a cake ball as part of the place setting, with a keyring with 'their' snowflake and "Brian and Traci tie the knot 12-28-13" on it.
At the reception, we had a choice between chicken breasts and prime rib (oh, it was rare! yuck.) and I had 2 chicken breasts. There was a pasta dish with something like spaghetti sauce all over it. I passed on that one. There were small red potatoes - I got 6 (halves), green beans - I got half a spoonful, salad - I got a whole spoonful. I passed on the rolls, too. At the table, I did put butter on my potatoes. Not much, since the whole table (well, my side of the table) only had two scoops of butter to share. That was it. I was rather proud of myself.
I also had a slice - the smallest slice I could find - of wedding cake. It was red velvet! Yum. TOTAL YUM.
The reception went on until 11:30, and, since we are so close to the family, we stayed til the very end. It was close to midnight before we left, so it was probably quarter til one before we got home, because we had to drop Bert off at her house.
12/29/13 Sunday FOOTBALL
Sunday. Church, breakfast, football. Normal, right? Almost.
We still have Corgan, because of the wedding, so Ron has to miss church, and I have to come back and pick them up to go out to breakfast (we are going up to Georgetown, so it's silly for him to meet me uptown) and it's pouring down the rain, too. Yikes.
Anyway, that all goes okay, and we get to Country Inn and order our food (Ron and I each got that big breakfast that we like) and all. Suddenly, Corgan says, "Hey! You see that lady at the door? With the red hair?" Ron and I look. It's his music teacher. We say "Yep. It's your music teacher." It takes a little bit of the wind out of his sails, but not much, and he has to start into a long story. I don't know where he gets that from.....<looking around, whistling>.....and when they seat her party, she walks by our table, so he says hi to her and she says "Hi, Corgan!" and then comes back to the table after laying her stuff down at her table and talks to us for a couple of moments. That was very nice of her. She sure didn't have to do that.
On our way back home, we stop to get gasoline in a can (a kerosene can - he's goofy) for Ron to put in his truck for tomorrow morning. He says the cans are 'interchangable" - my word, not his - and it doesn't matter what you put in 'em. I told him about if it was a full-service station, they would so seriously get into trouble if they put gasoline into a kerosene can, so he should be very, very glad that stations nowadays are pretty much self-serve. Anyway, I knew it was time to turn the radio on to the game, but - of course (this is how it goes) - a good good good good song came on, and I left it on, and I ended up missing kickoff. And the first interception. And the first Ravens field goal. C'mon, Rita! Good thing Josh texted me! We got home about 10 minutes into my football game, and of course, my fellers did NOT have the TV set up on the correct channels for me, so when I turned it on, I still had to futz around with the remote, turning the channels. Good thing I know what channels I need, huh? FINALLY, I am watching my football and the day becomes normal, or mostly, because we still have Corgan. "Watching" football with him is a whole new experience, let me tell you. He did stay in the living room, rooting on the Ravens. Whenever I yelled at the TV, he'd say the opposite - which wasn't UNexpected - but he would never admit that he was, or that he would, watch the game. He's too funny.
My Bengals won! Very handily, too - they showed those Ravens whose house they were in, that's for sure. They are unbeaten at home this year, and they will play a playoff game - HERE - next week. Yes, this week was/is the final week of the season and now the playoffs will begin. Three weekends of playoffs, one weekend off, then the Super Bowl. Then it's over for 'this' year. BooHoo.
His mom came and picked him up a little after 4. They were going to a party with her side of the family - one of the boys is being deployed to Afghanistan - and they still needed to stop and get their own drinks to take with them. Now the day has become normal!
Ron piddled around outside during the afternoon games, and at 5, I put a can/bowl of lentil bean soup on for him for his supper. I put it on low, because we don't usually eat supper until 7 or so, but I thought he might be cold when he came in, and want a few bites before then. It was lower in sodium than a lot of soups, so thought it would be okay for him. He finally came in for good a little after 6, and I told him about the soup. He didn't want to eat it "soup is too salty" but I showed him the can, and proved it wasn't as bad as other soups are, and he finally ate it. Geez. I finally made me a can/bowl of chicken noodle soup, and that was my supper.
Of course, when I put all my food into MFP, I was 500+ calories short for the day, but I had munched on Christmas candy during the football games, so I know I was really most probably over on calories. I did sort out all the gumdrops and put them into my gumdrop & jelly bean jar, and put the chocolates into the freezer, and stuff like that, so I don't have all that much left to munch on now. Just M&Ms, Skittles, things like that, and it won't take long....we aren't doing any kind of weigh-in for TOPS this week, and I guess that's probably a good thing. According to my Biggest Loser contest weigh-in, I gained three pounds, remember? I sure will have to exercise like all get-out this week, because this go-round of the Biggest Loser is coming to an end. Then another new one will start - anyone interested in joining? Only 20 bucks for 12 weeks....great support, good friends, and a chance to win some money! Contact me for more info.
Both Saturday and Sunday are getting five stars for food! I did very well with the food I ate - even though I don't know the calorie count of the candy I munched on, I had so many calories 'open' I don't think that I went over for the day - either day.
Exercise - not surprising - gets zero. There was a little walking on Saturday, but nothing consistent or time-consuming. Sunday, as Sundays go, there was nothing.
My Bengals are playoff bound!!
