Today started early, just as planned. I did hit snooze one too many times and had to rush like crazy and not be too late with the first meeting of the morning, but after that, everything - the running around - went pretty well according to plan. There were a few phone-call hitches, but that was because of the holidays, both this week's and last's, and I thought it might throw off this afternoon's meeting, but we worked it all out.
I remembered to stop and pick my friend up, and we got all her shopping done, and I ran my errands, and I got her home when she needed to be back. We didn't have time to have lunch together, but we'll do that some other day. I stopped at Gold Star and had my lunch (my usual 5-way and a coney) before I went home. I got my stuff carried in the house, and was looking over the receipt, checking the after-Christmas prices, when Ron came pulling in the driveway. What!? Well, it IS New Year's Eve, and they really sent people home close to on time for closing for the holiday. Well, how about that!
He goes in to take a nap and I get on the pute. Whee! Can you tell we're an old married couple?
I wake him to let him know I'm leaving for my meeting, and as I'm coming home, I notice the Christmas lights aren't on yet, and think to myself, "guess he's still in bed, and I'll have to plug the lights in" and POOF the lights came on! Am I magic or what? That was too funny! By the time I was pulled in and parked, he had all three plugs plugged in and all the lights were on. That was really cool, let me tell you.
At 6:30, I go in to make our supper. I am making a new dish for us - a shrimp dish. I am making just the dish for tonight, no sides or anything, this first time. In the future, I will make this as the 'meat' of a meal, not the full meal. I have learned that much! It is easy enough - On a cookie sheet, (melt butter first, or lay pats of butter to melt) lay out a layer of sliced lemons (I bought two lemons for tonight - that was just enough for this many shrimp). Next, a layer of shrimp on top of the lemons. (I bought a bag that has 50-60 shrimp in it - that was more than enough for just us two) Over the shrimp, sprinkle a packet of Italian Seasoning (the kind found by the dressings). Bake in a 350 oven for 15-20 minutes. I did forget the melted butter, but I will not the next time, and I will definitely be making this again. It was DELICIOUS!! And that was supper.
As expected, when I put my food (and exercise - a WalMart walk!) into MFP, I was almost 500 calories short for the day, so I felt free to have a few pieces of Christmas candy while watching TV. Since I didn't go over 500 short for the day, it didn't holler at me (yay!) but it was close! After the candy, I'm sure it was no where near there, anyway.
So, five stars for everything today! Stuff accomplished and done, food was excellent, and calories needs were met. Great way to end the year!
See you all next year!
